Adult Education Drive-By Graduation 2020

Sixty-four graduates from Bluewater District School Board's Adult Education 2019-2020 class were honoured in a special drive-by ceremony on Wednesday, October 21. Held in the parking lot and front entrance of Bluewater's Education Centre in Chesley, this year's event was a bit untraditional with physical distancing and other health and safety protocols in place for graduates, their families, and participants.

The format of the evening included graduates arriving in their vehicles and then being presented with their diplomas in the drop-off loop at the front of the building. Many brought along their loved ones to join in the celebration. Additionally, there were board dignitaries and staff on hand to recognize the achievements of the graduates in completing their Ontario Secondary School Diplomas.

As part of the ceremony, Holly Gutscher was awarded a bursary from the Canadian Federation of University Women of Kincardine. The award is presented to a female graduate, from Bruce County, who is proceeding to post-secondary.

Anthony Valentini, who was one of last year's Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program award recipients, was also in attendance. Anthony is continuing his apprenticeship as a Truck and Coach Technician.

A pre-recorded heartfelt and inspiring speech from class of 2020 valedictorian Cierra Thorpe has been made available for all the graduates. View the video recording below in addition to a photo gallery of the ceremony.

Bluewater District School Board extends deepest congratulations and best wishes for success to all of this year's graduates!
