During the fall, the students responded to a request by Birgit Wright, owner of Birgit's Bakery Café in Owen Sound, to provide some design help in actualizing her vision of a new specialized baking mold.  Some of teacher Gregg Mackay's senior mechanical design students stepped up to the challenge, and were able to design, 3-D model, and prototype (through 3-D printing) a workable solution for Birgit.

After the initial work was completed, Protosource Design+ in Markdale was able to take the model and produce it for Birgit's needs, thus resulting in a successful design process from start to finish.

The project was an amazing opportunity for the students to engage in a hands-on 'real world' experience, and work back-and-forth with an actual client.
