On Pink Shirt Day, we “Lift Each Other Up”.  This annual tradition helps encourage acceptance and the improvement of students' mental and physical health.  It also allows for open conversations about how to spot bullying, stop it, and get support.

Pink Shirt Day originated in 2007 when a pair of teenage boys noticed a peer being picked on by other students simply for wearing a pink shirt to school.  To stand up and show solidarity, the two boys devised a plan and texted their fellow male classmates to elicit support.  A supply of pink shirts were then purchased and handed out to students at the front of the school.  This action not only resolved the situation, but also started a global movement through the annual recognition of Pink Shirt Day.

Schools and families are encouraged to tag Bluewater District School Board on social media with their Pink Shirt Day photos @BluewaterDSB on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.  As always, we are aiming for full board wide participation!
