Pink is the fashion as those in our schools and work sites wear T-shirts and other pink clothing to symbolize an anti-bullying stance and prompt crucial conversations on our individual roles in spotting and stopping bullying and seeking support.  On Pink Shirt Day, kindness counts as we lift each other up!

The origin of Pink Shirt Day dates back to 2007 in Nova Scotia when two teenage boys organized a school wide protest in response to a bullying incident involving a new Grade 9 student.  After witnessing the boy being taunted for wearing a pink shirt, the two friends visited a discount store to buy pink tank tops to hand out at the school the next day.  Pink Shirt Day is now recognized across Canada and in other parts of the world.

Schools and members of our communities are invited to join the cause on social media by sharing their Pink Shirt Day photos with Bluewater District School Board.  Tag us @BluewaterDSB on Facebook, Instagram, and X.
