Bluewater District School Board recognizes the value of communication as a transferable skill and the importance of additional language learning to support students as globally competent citizens.
 FSL in Bluewater District School Board aligns with the Ontario Curriculum Vision for French as a Second Language – Core, Extended, and Immersion, Grades 1 to 12:

Indigenous languages of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples
; and home languages of newcomer multilingual learners are an essential component of all language learning and will be recognized in the additional language and intercultural learning of Bluewater FSL programs.

The knowledge of an additional language is an asset, and the positive outcomes for students in FSL programs include:

  • improved problem-solving, reasoning and creative thinking skills;
  • additional first language skills;
